Meet The Team

Anthony Maturano

COO & Athletic Director

Coach Anthony is one of the cornerstones of Rocket City Ninja Obstacle Academy. Whether he’s building competition courses, coaching students, or mentoring future athletes, Anthony leads with passion, knowledge, and purpose.

His ninja journey began back in 2009, when he fell in love with the sport after watching the Season 1 premiere of Ninja Warrior. Since then, he’s been hooked—both as a competitor and as a creator. While he has competed in multiple events, these days he’s more often the one designing the courses that challenge athletes to push their limits.

Anthony has been with RCNOA for 4 years, and his coaching is backed by a strong foundation of education and experience:
● B.S. in Health & Exercise Science
● Minor in Psychology
● Concentration in Sports Psychology
● Certified Mobility Coach (assisted stretching for injury prevention and recovery)

Coaching Philosophy

Movement is more than just exercise—it’s rehab, growth, confidence, and life-changing
potential.
Anthony focuses on using movement-based training for injury prevention, student
development, and helping kids discover just how strong they really are, inside and out.

Coaching Favorites

  • Favorite obstacle to do & teach:
The classic and iconic Warped Wall—a perfect mix of strength, technique, and mental focus.

Beyond the Gym

Anthony is more than just a coach. He’s a guide, mentor, and motivator for every student who steps through the doors of RCNOA. If you’ve trained under him, you’ve already felt the impact. And if you haven’t yet, now’s the time.

David Franklin

Operations Manager & Head Coach | “The Dyslexic Ninja”

David has been coaching ninja athletes for over 4.5 years, with just a short break after welcoming his daughter into the world. Now he’s back—better than ever—and ready to keep building Rocket City Ninja Obstacle Academy with the same heart and hustle that made him a cornerstone of the team in the first place.

While his early athletic background included baseball, ninja quickly became his true passion, and he’s stuck with it ever since. He’s competed in multiple events, but what keeps him coming back is the connection he builds with every student.

Coaching Favorites

  • Favorite thing about coaching:
The relationships—watching kids grow stronger, braver, and more confident week after week.
  • Favorite obstacle to do:
Advanced cannonballs or the 12-foot trapeze—anything that gets him off the ground.
  • Favorite obstacle to teach:
Simple harmonic obstacles, where students can feel their movement, rhythm, and flow really come together.

Outside the Gym

When he’s not coaching or spending time with his family, David is a gamer at heart. You’ll probably find him deep in a co-op or challenge mode somewhere online.

Fun Facts

  • He’s fallen from two miles in the sky (on purpose—skydiving, not a ninja fail).
  • If he could have any superpower? Flight. Because why walk when you could soar?

Come train with Coach David and see what makes him such a pillar of the RCNOA family. Whether you’re brand-new or chasing your next milestone, he’s here to guide you every step (or lache) of the way.

Sarah-Grace Franklin (SG)

Development Manager | “The Valkyrie Ninja”

Say hello to Coach Sarah-Grace (or SG), our powerhouse Development Manager. She first joined Rocket City Ninja Obstacle Academy in March 2022—starting at the front desk and quickly climbing her way into leadership. After stepping away in March 2024 to welcome her daughter into the world, she’s officially back and more confident than ever, ready to help lead the Academy into its next exciting chapter.

Her ninja roots run deep. Her now-husband, Coach David, began coaching here in 2020 and introduced her to the world of ninja. Since then, it’s become more than just a job—it’s a passion. Sarah-Grace even took home 1st place in the 2022 Alabama State Games Ninja Challenge in the adult women’s division.

Coaching Favorites

  • Favorite thing about coaching:
Those “aha!” moments when students finally conquer a tough obstacle and feel their confidence skyrocket.
  • Favorite obstacle to do:
    The 10-foot slackline.
  • Favorite obstacle to teach:
Tilted steps—a great foundation for new ninjas finding their footing.

Outside the Gym

Sarah-Grace is an unapologetic Doctor Who superfan (ask her anything, but be prepared for a deep dive).

Come say hi to Coach Sarah-Grace next time you’re in! Whether you’re new to ninja or a seasoned pro, she’s here to make sure everyone feels welcome, strong, and part of the RCNOA family.

Coach Kristi

Front Desk Coach | “Ninja Mom”

Meet Coach Kristi, the friendly face you’ll often see at the front desk here at Rocket City Ninja Obstacle Academy! Kristi has been part of the RCNOA family for just over a year, helping keep everything running smoothly while making sure every student feels welcome the moment they walk through the door.

Ninja Journey

Kristi first discovered ninja from the ultimate insider perspective: she was a ninja mom first. Watching her kids train and grow sparked her love for the community and led her to join the team herself.
With an athletic background in dance and BMX racing, Kristi understands movement, balance, and determination, even if she’s usually supporting from behind the scenes rather than on the course.

Coaching Favorites

  • Favorite thing about coaching:
Getting to know each student, learning their strengths, and watching their confidence grow over time.

Beyond the Gym

Outside of RCNOA, Kristi is passionate about her family. She homeschools her kids and spends most of her time caring for them, making her ninja name feel especially fitting.

Whether she’s checking students in, answering questions, or cheering from the sidelines, Coach Kristi is a huge part of what makes RCNOA feel like home.

Coach Parker

Assistant Manager | “Parker Parker”

Say hello to Parker, one of our Assistant Managers here at Rocket City Ninja Obstacle Academy!

Parker joined the RCNOA team in 2026 after working alongside Jenn at her previous job. When Jenn and Fil took over Rocket City Ninja Obstacle Academy, Parker knew she wanted to be part of the exciting things they were building, and she quickly found her place on the RCNOA team.

Ninja Journey

Although Parker is newer to the world of ninja, she brings an athletic background from playing sports in high school and a passion for encouraging others to reach their goals.

Credentials:

  • CPR & First Aid Certified

Coaching Favorites

  • Favorite thing about coaching:
Seeing students achieve new milestones and watching their hard work pay off.
  • Ninja Name:
“Parker Parker” — simple, memorable, and straight to the point.
  • Superpower of choice:
    Flying!

Beyond the Gym

Parker’s biggest cheerleading role doesn’t stop when class ends; encouraging others is something she genuinely loves.

And if you ever happen to see her scrolling through her camera roll, there’s a good chance you’ll meet Oso. Parker admits her dog has more photos on her phone than she has selfies.

Come say hi to Parker next time you’re in! Whether she’s helping things run smoothly as Assistant Manager or cheering on a student who just hit a new milestone, she’s excited to be part of the RCNOA community.

Coach Natalie Evans

Lead Lil’ Ninja Coach

Say hello to Natalie, our Lead Lil’ Ninja Coach here at Rocket City Ninja Obstacle Academy!

Natalie has been part of the RCNOA coaching team for two years, but her ninja journey started long before that. After spending three years training as a student, she joined our staff as an Assistant Coach and quickly discovered how much she loved helping younger ninjas build their skills and confidence. In May 2026, Natalie stepped into leadership of our Lil’ Ninja program, where she now helps our youngest athletes take their first steps into the world of ninja.

Ninja Journey

Natalie first discovered ninja after her family moved from California to Huntsville. She and her siblings had previously trained at a freerunning gym, and when they relocated, her family found RCNOA.

Ninja soon became a family affair; All four of Natalie’s younger siblings have trained at RCNOA too!

Natalie also has a background in softball and has spent years developing her own ninja skills. One of her favorite challenges is laches, and she’s worked her way from consistently sticking four-foot laches toward mastering six-foot catches.

Coaching Favorites

  • Favorite thing about coaching:
Getting to know her students, helping them work through their fears, and watching their confidence grow as they reach new milestones.
  • Favorite obstacle to do:
    Laches!
  • Favorite obstacle to teach:
Laches — especially helping students develop the swing, timing, and confidence needed to make the catch.

Beyond the Gym

Outside of ninja, Natalie loves crocheting and knitting, especially making custom headbands. You may even catch her wearing one that perfectly matches her RCNOA uniform!

Fun fact: Natalie is the oldest of five siblings and her younger siblings have all been part of the RCNOA family too.

And if she could choose any superpower? Teleportation. There are plenty of places she’d love to explore, and skipping the travel time and expense certainly wouldn’t hurt.

Come say hi to Coach Natalie next time you’re in! From starting as an RCNOA student to becoming an Assistant Coach and now leading our Lil’ Ninja program, Natalie has grown right alongside the community she now gets to help introduce to the sport.
